Presentation tomorrow...
Part 1.
Internship has given me a lot of time to think, considering the fact that I have six and a half hours of free time in my travels. And I maybe could have been more productive physically with that time, but I used it to get things done that I don't get time to do normally.
I started working on a story again. I have brainstormed a couple ideas for plays that I could submit to next years Play By Young Writers. And I started writing a couple songs, which I will write music myself since I started learning how to play guitar.
I have also realized how close I am to getting out of high school. Next year is my last year, and then I am off to college. This seems incredibly scary, but I am also really excited to see where I can go. Doing this internship has shown me a lot about what people have to do keep a job, and to have a job they love. And it has made me really think about how I want to down my time in the future. I don't want to waste my time doing something I don't love. Or waste my time with something that doesn't mean anything.
This has really made me look at where I want to go with my life. As I mentioned in my last post about the future, before I leave high school I have to have another internship. I love working with the people here at Playwrights, but I don't think I want to work in an office again next year. What I really would love to try is working in a classroom.
Recently, I have been thinking (almost joking) about what kind I teacher I would be and what I would do if I were to become a teacher. This wasn't really anything I ever considered as a full time job, but I think that having the chance to try would be fantastic. Especially since it may change my direction for the future. It has really made me think about what I am really passionate about and what matters to me.
I was moved (can't think of a better way to say this) by my experience at San Pasqual Academy. One of the students thought I was there to apply for the school and what she said shocked me. "Don't go here." It made me sad to be reminded of how many kids my age absolutely hate being at school. I know how hard and horrible school can be, but it is a place where you spend a lot of your you we years. But is there a way that I could make it better? Even for just a few kids.
It's still something I am thinking about. What matters to me? And how can I make it matter to the rest if the world? Much hope.
Part 2. Describe and reflect on your "mock interview" with your mentor
Unfortunately, there was too much going on for my mentor and I do do a mock interview.
